Thespian Induction
The Wooster Thespian Society Induction was Thursday, May 16 in the WHS Performing Arts Center. 6 new inductees were made part of our strong and meaningful tradition. Throughout the school year, students are able to earn points toward a membership by participating in three areas of theatre: stage work, technical areas and publicity and front of house jobs.
Current members and officers are seated stage right as the inductees are seating stage left. Throughout the evening, Directors and Officers read and explain the meaning behind the ceremony, the history of our and theatre, and talk about tradition in one of humanities deepest rooted forms of storytelling. After watching a slideshow, recapping the Drama Club's season, current thespians are presented with a new star pin, denoting the next level of achievement. Finally, the inductees are introduced to the audience, receive their awards and light a candle to represent all of those that have come before them. They pledge their hard work and excellence to Thespis and their fellow actors and distinguish their candles. After the ceremony, the audience and assembly members are asked to celebrate with cake!
We are INCREDIBLY proud of all the students that accomplished this distinguished award. They have all worked very hard and in more than one area. We have inducted freshman, sophomores, juniors AND seniors.
